Hanssikaa - yes that’s her official name now - celebrates her birthday today. The girl who will turn 17 hates the concept of parties and partying, and hence she won’t be partying today. Instead, she will spend first hold a prayer and then visit an orphanage. Her mother says that she’s a religious girl. Incidentally, the name change has been ‘prescribed’ by her hero Himesh Reshammiya. “Mom likes it, Himesh knows astrology, and I’m happy with it,” smiles the happy kid with all innocence. Now that’s a unique gift, what say?





After her debut film Aap Ka Surroor, will now be seen in a music video, Ishq Na Karna directed by Divya Khosla Kumar. “I know not many actors would want to do music albums after their first film, but I just couldn’t refuse this one. It’s special. I’m working with the Kumars and it has been a nice experience.” About life post-Aap Ka Surroor, Hansika says, “I’m busy shooting. It’s hectic, but fun. I’m the same person though. Success hasn’t gone to my head.” But when asked about her future projects, the actress prefers to be tight-lipped like an experienced actor. She says, “I can’t say much about the movies I am doing right now; eventually I’ll be able to divulge more details.”

Hansika Motwani, the little girl of Koi Mil Gaya fame had every male swooning over her, as she toned down a lot in the footsteps of Kareena Kapoor.

In an attempt to attain the famous size zero, Hansika has undergone a rigorous diet to lose her baby fat. Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, her Hindi movie in production requires a slim, svelte heroine, so this could be a reason for Hansika to lose weight.

At a recent public appearance at a fashion show, Hansika’s new skinny look bowled over many, but many traditionalists felt that more was better for a teenager.

It’s almost as if a genie has been watching over her and guiding her every step of the way. Jacqueline’s journey to fame began in her teens, when she was just fourteen. Born to Sri Lankan mother and Indian father, Jacqueline was raised in Bahrain where she began her first stint on TV with a fitness show.

After doing her college from Australia she returned Sri Lanka to live with her grandparents and she turned a TV reporter for Sri Lanka’s internal war. A big break came her way in 2006, when she won the Miss Sri Lanka crown and later on participated in Miss Universe pageant in Los Angeles.

For Jacqueline Fernandes, it was a childhood dream to be an actress. For someone who started earning quite young and turned independent in her teens, Jacqueline dabbled with quite a few jobs, mostly related to glamour world, before Bollywood came calling with Sujoy Ghosh's ALADIN for this Sri Lankan beauty.

"Though I belong to Sri Lankan origin, I was born and raised in Bahrain. I did my high school from there as well. Later I went for college degree in Australia and it was only after that I came to Sri Lanka. I started living with my grand parents and joined a TV station there", recalls Jacqueline who has hosted quite a few shows on TV in both Bahrain and Sri Lanka

Very predictable. Plain old sunrise would have been more interesting to watch than the ramp on Day II of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week on Thursday in Delhi. Maybe that’s why the lounge conversations were all about Gwen Stefani’s streetsmart New York Fashion Week collection. The predictability of the day was matched by the dull colours on the ramp. Someone must tell our designers that they’re missing the point here - that summer collections do not necessarily mean short dresses in white and paler than pale pastels. Any rule that says bright colours do not make a summer cooler? Could be the reason why Ranna Gill’s leaf prints and paisleys brought some relief to white-blinded eyes. And yes, someone finally showed swimwear in a summer collection! But a clear-cut trend still eludes WIFW.
Shilpa will be present at the WIFW for Tarun. “TT had asked me to be a part of his show two months back, but I had declined as I had my musical lined up. However, now the musical has been postponed, I am here for TT. I have always worn his clothes and love his very Indian drapes,” says Shilpa.

Celebrity harassment in India has touched an all time high, says actress , who was stopped at the airport in Mumbai by immigration officers twice recently.

“It was so bizarre,” she said, referring to her brief detention while going to and returning from the International Indian Film Academy awards function this month in Britain.

So would “Dr Shetty” be a befitting title to address the lady who has become the virtual poster girl for all things Indian today in Britain? “Plain old Shilpa will do just fine!” says - her trademark giggle firmly in place - minutes after receiving her honourary doctorate for outstanding contribution to Indian cinema from the Leeds Metropolitan University.

“What makes this honour double special for me is the fact that I share this privileged title with stalwarts from like Amitji, Shabanaji and Yashji, who are all previous recipients,” Shilpa adds, her voice brimming with pride - a pride that is palpable despite the fact that the 32-year-old actress is thousands of miles away in Leeds, UK, speaking to BT on a phone line that’s threatening a break down any minute!

After six months of living in denial, and UK-based NRI entrepreneur Raj Kundra have come out in the open with their relationship. “I’m not denying it’s him (Raj) but I hope when this comes out, it doesn’t frighten him off,” Shilpa said on the New Year’s eve. And, no, this isn’t her resolution to come clean on all controversies this year, but as Shilpa’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar said, “Things have changed. The relationship has blossomed and matured with time. They were friends before. Now they’re a couple.”

Raj is responsible for the launch of Shilpa’s perfume. He is also the force behind her musical stage shows. Raj, who finances and produces movies, had presented the Jimmy Sheirgill-Kay Kay Menon starrer Strangers which released a few weeks ago. But like Shilpa, when the news of their relationship broke six months ago, Raj had denied it, stating they were “just friends”.

Bachchan has already started filming for the new ‘Pink Panther’ sequel and has been photographed doing the same in Paris. If reports are anything to go by, this could be Ash’s big ticket to Hollywood, establishing her as a mainstream Hollywood actress and raising her profile substantially.
